One week of training on the subject of “Integrated Design for the Products of Tomorrow” has been delivered with great success at the G-SCOP Laboratory of Grenoble Institute of Technology from 7 to 11 June 2010. The 12 international participants - doctorate students and industrialists – learnt about the basics and the key aspects of integrated design, and they exchanged their own experiences in the subject in interactive sessions.
This training was a pilot activity in the iDesigner project, which is co-funded by European commission in the Lifelong Learning Program under the contract LLP-LdV-TOI-2008-FR-117025. In a partnership with the ECQA (European Certification and Qualification Association), EMIRAcle member organizations
have developed a complete and unique qualification and certification program “ECQA Certified Integrated Design Engineer” in this project. The trainings deliver to key players in the product development process the competences required to conceive and develop innovative, sustainable and competitive products, systems and services. These competences can be certified in a modular fashion with certificates that are valid and recognized all over Europe.

The participants were very satisfied with the quality of the course, as well as with its relevance to the real requirements in modern product development environments and organizations. They pointed out that the training delivers not only high-quality knowledge, but also innovative methods that are directly transferable to practice.
Other pilot trainings have been done by member organizations of the iDesigner project consortium in Austria, Poland, and Romania. Further trainings will be offered in the second half of 2010. They will be announced on the websites of EMIRAcle and the ECQA.
